Hello! I’m Sara.

I started Radiant Home Studio as a way to share creativity, beauty, and passion for making things.

My mom taught me to make doll clothes and follow simple sewing patterns when I was a little girl. I remember that she kept a basket of cross-stitch and other crafty things near the couch to work on in the evenings, and enjoyed keeping our home decorated and welcoming with her handmade touches.

My parents often took spontaneous road trips to quaint little villages and some busy big cities. Our travels (which I didn’t always appreciate) cultivated a passion for beauty as we studied the scenery, architecture, and art found on those excursions.

Sewing has been my primary creative outlet for many years, and my frequent trips to browse the fabric store inspired my love of quality fabric and beautiful prints and patterns. I have experimented with screen printing my own fabric and learned graphic design for digital fabric printing and print publishing. I also enjoy photography, sketching, painting, knitting, and writing.

God displays his beauty through his creation, so I believe my creative work is worship, reflecting the glory and beauty of God to the world.

I began a personal blog back in 2011, to keep our family and friends updated and to share encouragement to others in the midst of mothering little children. I loved the community aspect of blogging and continued to share my creative ideas here at Radiant Home Studio.

I homeschool my 7 children and also design posters and educational resources for moms at my new shop, Pretty Nerdy Press.

Why “Radiant Home“?

“God has given us the glorious task of representing him on the earth. Of showing the world what our God is really like. Of showing the watching world that our God is a creative master who loves to bring beauty out of chaos.”

(Stephen Altrogge, Desiring God Blog, Make God Look Great – Create.)
