This is a good time of year to get to know your actual neighbors! A card and a small gift (I’m a fan of good chocolate!) could be the start of a new friendship.

Some of our neighbors have been in their homes for 30+ years. I love learning the neighborhood history from them. We have even met the original owner’s of our home when they were visiting other friends in the neighborhood!

Human connection is so good and beautiful and needed. I have a few good moments to share, but I’ll start with one encouraging thing.

A sweet young woman bought this hello card to welcome a neighbor’s new baby. Then I watched her walk 2 booths down and choose some adorable baby gifts from the @portandstarbird booth.

I was so encouraged to see how she simply supported small businesses, connected with community, and loved her neighbor well by choosing to shop at the market for gifts.

I hope you will consider some markets in your local area or indie gift shops to purchase from this month because small acts of support mean the world to small business owners! 😘

I definitely haven’t given this washi tape desig

I definitely haven’t given this washi tape design enough attention. It’s filled with handwritten affirmations. I wrote them when we were in a season of rock wall climbing and I was struggling with fear of falling (and hurting myself because I was older than most people there 😜).

Though the affirmations have physical meanings, they work well in a more metaphorical context too.

With encouragement written on tape, you can remind yourself and others to be brave, rise up, reach out, work hard, step up, and pursue strength.

I’m struggling with wanting to stay small and isolate. I could definitely use this encouragement myself right now. What about you? Do you need reminders like this right now?
