If you follow me on Instagram or receive my emails, then you might have seen some glimpses of what I’ve been working on this Spring and Summer. The short version is, I’ve been creating new products and planning to expand Radiant Home Studio into a shop!
Don’t worry…sewing patterns will still be available! I started my sewing blog in 2013. Though I wasn’t one of the first sewing bloggers or anything, the indie sewing community was still small and kind of raw. I just wanted to be part of sharing what I was making. There was no business plan. I started creating sewing patterns because I wanted to share something with the community.
I’m a lifelong lover of learning and research. (I’m really not into the Enneagram, but I’m a 5 if that means anything to you.) When I mastered sewing pattern design, I kept learning as much as I could about fabric design and illustration. I loved it so much that my sewing has really continued to be a hobby and surface design has become my main business pursuit. So, I’ve spent a couple of years making plans to pivot while sewing posts have become few and far between.
It’s not a huge stretch. Radiant Home Studio has always been about encouraging creativity and intentional living, and about finding beauty in the small things.
And now I’m expanding to make room for new ways to encourage intentional living and creative “home-making” (I wish there was a less “loaded” way to say “people who creatively make their house a home”…I don’t just mean SAHM’s or people that like to bake). And I’m finding ways to share beautiful things with you through intentional products with a modern, yet cozy style.
The first new additions to the shop will be notecards and embroidery patterns! I have a long list of other ideas that I’m slowly finding manufacturers for while I test the market to see what you all love most. I especially want to hear from those of you that have been loyal followers of the blog for years. What types of home & gift items would you love to see from me? Organic cotton tea towels? Journals?
I also want you to know that good stewardship is very important to us! When I decided to expand into physical products, I committed to finding ethical manufacturers and using recycled paper or organic cotton when possible. I’ve sourced eco-friendly packaging and shipping materials as well. I hope you value these efforts as well. We want to add value, not just stuff.
For now, here’s a peek at what’s coming! I’m just waiting on mailers before I publish the listings. There will be a very limited quantity available next week, while I test my shipping process and learn which cards are most popular. Then I’ll be able to reorder and restock within a couple of weeks!
