Be Strong and Courageous Embroidery

Embroidery

A few months ago I stumbled upon Mollie Johanson’s blog, Wild Olive. It is full of fun little crafts and pretty embroidery patterns.

I saved my favorite project—an embroidery pattern for a Bible verse from Joshua. “Be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I set it aside waiting for an opportunity to work on it, thinking that it would take too long. The Joshua pattern is free (thank you Mollie!) and you can also find ideas for transferring the pattern to your fabric.

I decided to get my fabric and pattern out and start working on it yesterday. It turns out there are plenty of minutes during the day which can be filled with stitching! I finished it the same day.

I am not as practiced at embroidery as I am at machine sewing, so I stuck with simple backstitching. And I prefer a chunkier stitch, so I used all 6 threads instead of separating them.

I’d like to do another one with the end of the verse— “for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”— and send it to a friend that needs encouragement!

What gifts do you make for friends that need encouragement?

Sara, this looks so great, and I love the chunkier back stitch as much as you do. And I’m so glad that you stitched this when you did…it was a perfectly timed reminder!

This year has been an emotional roller coaster for This year has been an emotional roller coaster for me...how about you? I’ve had some really amazing licensing partnerships and we’ve enjoyed a lot of growth as a family. But I’ve also experienced a lot of hurt and disappointment over circumstances that I cannot control.

Emotions overwhelm me...so I usually just don’t. I’ve had to learn to feel some things this year and just sit in the overwhelm. I’m sure you’ve been there.

Not much to do with the image, but here’s a happy flower bouquet for you and maybe a friend could use one too. 🪴☀️ Lean into the hard and find ways to come out of it stronger and moving forward.

Have you made a Water Bottle Tote yet? Whether you are going out or staying in, you can keep everyone’s water bottles contained and organized.

Just a reminder i have this pattern in the shop in case you need a solution for this ☺️

This isn’t one of them, but I thought it would be fun to decorate a planter for the #hollyjollydesignchallenge - to illustrate over an image. Plain pot to happy painted pot 🪴

These short design projects have been a good way to rest and experiment with some new work. Having a specific end product in mind really makes the design process easier.

These are coordinating winter coffee cup patterns. I prefer a seasonal vibe over super theme-y Christmas designs. How about you?

It’s worth reaching out to people, even from a distance. You never know how a small gesture might be just what someone needs to make through another hard day. ❤️

We watched a family Christmas movie a couple nights ago and I doodled all these mugs while we watched. They were begging to become a pattern. What do think? Gift wrap next year?
